4.2 it 3-4 Observation

Over the time I’ve spent completing my Intro and Ed Tech observations in the middle school, I feel like I’ve really started to understand how a 4th grade classroom runs on a daily basis. Being able to observe multiple lessons has helped me see how important consistency, structure, and engagement are for student success.

For observation number 3 the teachers student teacher had to teach a lesson. This helped me understand how the process of being a student teacher works. She had to film and record her lesson for her college class. She did just as good as the lead teacher and used some of the similar teaching strategies as the lead teacher. Overall I loved that I was able to observe a student teacher and how she gave her lesson.

For observation 3 and 4 of intro I observed my teacher for 4 and a half hour. That day I got to observe how the students changed classes but the teacher taught the same content. This day she played a kahoot for review and also assigned a post assessment. She used a lot of hands on activity in this class and I noticed how students were more engaged and willing to learn. Overall as my last observation I was able to observe that the class was structured and always on task.

Overall my experience observing in the middle school has opened my mind to different ages. I also learned the importance of having a schedule and a daily routine. Students where able to come into class get started without the teacher having to constantly remind them to stay on task. Another thing I noticed was how the teachers language and how she spoke to the students directly impacted the students. Overall her classroom was a very positive and organized space.
